Five generations of a family occupying a farm in Addison, Vt., from the 1780s to 1990. Family members include George Willmarth (1792-1878), who kept sheep and cattle and probably built many of the buildings on the farm. He served as clerk of Addison School District No. 4 (ca. 1840-1877) and in the state legislature (1850-1851). In 1877 he rented land to Jonas Smith for a steam sawmill and gristmill.
